Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Tuesday arrested the main accused in National Investigative Agency (NIA) officer Tanzeel Ahmed’s murder.
The accused Muneer has been taken into custody and the police is currently questioning him. Thirty-five-year-old Muneer is a former student of Aligarh Muslim University and was wanted in two other murder cases.
Earlier on June 16, Aligarh police and STF had nabbed Muneer’s close aide Atiullah Khan in a joint operation.
The NIA officer, who had handled several cases related to the Indian Mujahideen including the arrest and probe against its India chief Yasin Bhatkal, was shot dead at Sahaspur in Bijnor in April by bike-borne assailants when he was returning from a family wedding with his wife and two children.
Further details are awaited.
