Income Tax raids at homes of ‘Puli’ actor Vijay and Nayanthara

Income Tax department conducted raids at actors Vijay, Nayanthara and Samantha’s homes.

The Income Tax Department on Wednesday launched raids at the houses and offices of Tamil super star Vijay, leading actors Nayanthara, Samantha and several others in the industry. The raid that started at around 6.30am is still in progress at around 35 places including Chennai, Madurai, Cochin, Trivandrum and Hyderabad.

Sources in the IT department said Vijay’s resort, an office room and residence, houses of Nayanthara and Samantha, and also the houses and offices of producers and financiers of ‘Puli,’ Vijay’s upcoming fantasy drama to be released on October 1, are all being raided.

“There were formal and anonymous complaints of black money behind the production of Puli. We have no such evidences so far but a preliminary probe reveals that some of the investments and sources behind the movie were not explained,” said the official. Meanwhile, houses of both Nayanthara and Samantha are being raided for failing of submission of payment documents, the official said.

Raids are in progress at around 25 places in Chennai, three locations each in Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad, a house at Cochin.
