Security agencies led a Delhi bound Air India flight AI156 to isolation bay at Dabolim airport on Sunday, after the Goa police control room reported receiving a ‘call’ about a bomb being planted in the flight.

“All the 89 passengers and six crew members were safely alighted before security personnel commenced security sweep for explosives,” Goa Airport Director K S Rao said.

However, after thorough checking by the airport security and the bomb disposal squad the ‘threat’ was declared as hoax, although the airport officials said that the flight continues to remain at the isolation bay.

According to the Director Rao, although it was a scheduled flight it landed 13 minutes later than its actual arrival time.

An official from the Goa police said that its control room received the ‘hoax’ message from an anonymous caller at 13:45 pm. “As procedural matter, we immediately relayed the message to Air India who in-turn alerted the airport authorities,” he added.
