Fatehpur District Magistrate Rajiv Rautela said the problem started when an idol procession was routed along a mosque in Mandwa village instead of the outskirts of the village, which was decided earlier.

Sources said preliminary information revealed that the husband of a woman Zila Panchayat candidate had insisted and forced his way into the village. However, officials said a formal inquiry alone would establish the truth.
