Bigg Boss 8: When Parineeti Chopra, Salman Khan made fun of ‘women’s dignity’

While inmates like Karishma Tanna and Diandra Soares have left no stone unturned in belittling the grave issue of 'women empowerment', the mighty Bigg Boss too is forcing hard the hypocrisy of today's world on the show.

Parineeti didn't like it much in the Bigg Boss house and demanded to be let out because one of the inmates, singer Ali Quli Mirza allegedly ‘touched her inappropriately’. The current season of the most intriguing reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ is turning out to be quite a downer in terms of the activities going in and out of the premises of the house. While inmates like Karishma Tanna and Diandra Soares have left no stone unturned in belittling the grave issue of ‘women empowerment’, the mighty Bigg Boss too is forcing hard the hypocrisy of today’s world on the show.

In the latest weekend episodes, when the team of the upcoming movie ‘Kill Dil’ comprising of Parineeti Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Ali Zafar and Govinda made an entry in the show and in the house to promote their movie, people expected a fun filled episode given the repertoire that the above mentioned stars share with the host of the show Salman Khan. But it’s the Bigg Boss house and nothing can go as expected.

It has been reported, that Parineeti didn’t like it much in the Bigg Boss house and demanded to be let out because one of the inmates, singer Ali Quli Mirza allegedly ‘touched her inappropriately’. Ali got too close for Parineeti’s comfort while the ‘Kill Dil’ team – Parineeti, Ali and Ranveer – were dancing with the inmates. In the episode, Parineeti took the singer to a corner where she confronted him, much like she has done in the past.

Parineeti Chopra, the vociferous actress, has won our hearts in the past when while talking about periods, she yelled at a reporter for framing his sentence wrongly, or opposed statements made by another journalist such as “girls like it when they are young”. She has time and again made her point quite clear, so when she confronted Ali Quli Mirza about ‘the touch’, we were not surprised. Infact we were yet again made proud of the young and talented actress.

But then the sand castles broke down. This whole issue was revealed to be a prank played on Ali Mirza by the ‘Kill Dil’ team. And we were surprised!

This is the same actress we saw a while ago voicing her opinion in a dignified manner about a topic associated with the integrity of womanhood, and she plays a prank on a man that he had touched her inappropriately! That too in a show where the so called issue of women’s dignity has been misconstrued to the tee, especially in the current season. And we know how easy it becomes for the emotional audience to judge a man and bring him in the firing line when he’s pitted against a women’s issue.

Now, Parineeti might say that she ‘was told to do so by the makers of the show’ and we agree. Bigg Boss has been the most interesting and intriguing show in the recent times. While, on one hand, it reprimands its inmates on the pettiest issues, coaxes them to fight and instigate more fights on the most trivial premises, it also goes on to belittle issues like these. The night before this prank was played, another inmate of the house Sonali Raut accused Ali Quli Mirza of touching her inappropriately. Bigg Boss immediately came to the rescue, reprimanded Ali and ousted him from captaincy. So, was playing this prank on the same person necessary? So much for TVTs?

Okay, leave alone the prank on Ali Quli Mirza. A prank on ‘an inappropriate touch’? Really? So so so much for TVTs?

And while we do agree ‘Bigg Boss’ might have told Parineeti to do the not-should-have-been-done thing, shouldn’t the actress have, herself, refrained from taking such a step?

As far as the ‘inappropriate touch’ is concerned, another inmate of the house RJ Pritam, we think, was right in saying what he said in the last episode of the show. There’s a very thin line between a ‘friendly touch’ and ‘an inappropriate touch’ and there shouldn’t be any hypocrisy in demarcating that line.

Over to the feminists, now!
