When he made ‘Umrao Jaan’ in the early ’80s, many people took notice of the creativity he had put into the film. Now, film-maker Muzaffar Ali is set to turn a few heads again with his period film ‘Raqs’. At least that is what his lead actor, Pakistani actor, Imran Abbas Naqvi believes.

On his recent visit to Mumbai, the actor spoke about the movie. “We recently wrapped up the shoot of the film. It has been extensively shot in Lucknow, Kotwara, Delhi and parts of Noida,” said Naqvi, adding that the post-production work would start in a bit after the team takes a breather.

“The film is going to look really beautiful as Muzaffar saab has put in a lot of creativity. He has a very clear sense of direction and I enjoyed working with him,” says Naqvi.

According to him, the aesthetics of the film have got special attention. “Being a period film, set in 1877, both Muzaffar saab and his wife Meera have paid special attention to the costumes prevalent during that time. My look has been very well-developed and I could not have asked for anything more,” he said refusing to reveal anything about the plot. However, Naqvi said that the incident on which the film is based is an important one in India’s history.

The film that also marks the acting debut of costume designer Pernia Qureshi alongside Naqvi, is a multi-starrer.
