DC Comics has confirmed that writer Frank Miller is working on a third “Batman: The Dark Knight” book.

The controversial creator has teamed with writer Brian Azzarello to work on a follow-up to the classic “Dark Knight Returns” and its sequel “The Dark Knight Strikes Again”, reported The Verge.

The eight-issue series will be called “The Dark Knight III: The Master Race”, Azzarello revealed at a panel at the C2E2 event in Chicago.

“It’s been an amazing experience collaborating with Frank these past six months. I think we have an epic story that these characters truly deserve,” Azzarello said in a statement.

Miller had previously been rumoured to be working with Batman writer Scott Snyder on the project.

His last major project was Dark Horse’s poorly received “Holy Terror” in 2011, which was originally conceived as a “Batman vs al-Qaeda” story.
