Akshay Kumar on Rajesh Khanna comment: Naseeruddin Shah apologised and it is over

Naseeruddin Shah had to face Twinkle Khanna's ire when he called Rajesh Khanna 'a poor actor'. Akshay Kumar, however, wants this chapter to be closed.

Akshay Kumar, Naseeruddin Shah, Naseeruddin Shah Akshay Kumar, Naseeruddin Shah Rajesh Khanna, Rajesh Khanna Twinkle Khanna, Akshay Kumar is fine with the fact that Naseeruddin Shah apologised for calling Rajesh Khanna a mediocre actor.

Naseeruddin Shah’s deplorable remarks made at India’s first ever superstar Rajesh Khanna may not have gone down well with the late actor’s family members but after Nasser’s subsequent apology the matter is over for Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar.

When asked if he was as hurt as others when Naseer called his father-in-law “poor actor”, Akshay said, “It’s okay. Everything is finished. He apologised. So everything is over. Let’s go ahead.”

However, Akshay didn’t seem too pleased elaborating on the matter. When further prodded, Akshay said, “Don’t try and get something out of me. Let this industry be together. We are all in peace. Don’t make it pieces. Everything is over. If he apologised, all should be gracious enough to let it go.”

Naseer had sparked off a controversy when he said in an interview, “It was the 70’s when mediocrity came in Hindi films. That’s when the actor called Rajesh Khanna joined the industry. For all his success, I think Mr Khanna was a very limited actor. In fact, he was a poor actor. Intellectually, he wasn’t the most alert person I have ever met. His taste ruled the industry,” says Shah about Khanna, who gave hits such as Aradhana (1969), Haathi Mere Saathi (1971) and Anand (1971).”

Shah further went on to say, ‘The quality of script, acting, music and lyrics deteriorated. Colour came in. You could make a heroine wear a purple dress and hero a red shirt, go to Kashmir and make a movie. You didn’t need a story. This trend continued and I certainly think Mr Khanna had something to do with it because he was God in those days.”

Slamming Shah for his opinion, Twinkle had tweeted earlier, “Sir if you can’t respect the living, respect the dead. Mediocrity is attacking a man who can’t respond.”

A lot of celebs from the industry too stood behind Twinkle slamming Naseer for his remarks.
