Biopic on Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat
Kamlesh Pandey reveals they have been taking help from the Indian Army and Rawat's family.

Noted writer Kamlesh Pandey will be teaming up with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for a biopic on Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, who laid down his life in the 1962 Indo-China war.
The idea for this biopic came from director Sanjay Khanduri of “Ek Chalis Ki Last Local” fame.
Pandey and Khanduri, who have taken permission from Rawat’s family, have been working on the script for two years.
“The story of Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat is amazing. The 1962 Indo-China war holds an important part in history and Rawat gave his life for the country. These young soldiers fought against all the odds be it weather, equipments and saved our lives. We felt his story needs to be told to everyone,” Pandey told PTI.

Singh, is a recipient of Maha Vir Chakra (posthumous).
Pandey reveals they have been taking help from the Indian Army and Rawat’s family.
“There are some soldiers who worked with him (Rawat) are still alive and we are going to meet them to get some more information about him. We are taking help from Army and his family. They are supporting us completely in getting information from the achieves,” he said.
The team now is focusing on getting the final draft ready at the earliest. Hopefully, they might start shooting this year.
“We have already written one draft but we are still getting things perfect. Until and unless we are not happy with the final version we won’t go on floors soon,” Pandey said.
Once the scripting is done, the team will focus on getting the right cast for the film.
