THE Mumbai Police probing Rahul Mukerjea’s claims of having approached two police stations have so far recorded statements of 15 policemen from the Worli police station who have refuted his claims.

Rahul, in his statement to the Mumbai Police, had claimed that he approached Khar and Worli police stations to lodge a missing person’s complaint after his fiancee Sheena Bora went missing on the night of April 24, 2012.

The Mumbai Police commissioner had ordered an inquiry into the matter.

“We recorded statements of 15 policemen who were posted at the Worli police station in 2012, including constables.

The 15 policemen are unanimous in stating that Rahul did not approach them for a missing persons complaint,” said an officer.

Apart from recording their statements, the Worli police also checked its records for the year 2012 but did not find any such diary entry.

“We checked the station house diary for both 2012 and 2013 but did not find any entry where Sheena’s name was mentioned,” the officer said.

He said it was a rule to make a diary entry even if the ‘missing’ person came back.

“Even if a missing person is found within a span of a few minutes, a diary entry has to be made making note of the person who gave the complaint and from where the missing person was found,” said the officer.

The police team claimed to have gone through all prior records in the missing persons register at Worli but did not find any such record.

“We have informed our superior about no such record of a missing persons complaint for Sheena being available at the police station. We have not contacted the Khar police station yet,” said the officer.

Officials said it was possible the police were not owning up their negligence, adding that would have to question Rahul once again.

Rahul had claimed that he visited the police station along with his mother Shabnam.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Deven Bharti said he would have to check facts and not like to comment at this stage.

In his statement to the Khar police, Rahul said he had dropped Sheena outside National College in Bandra on April 24, 2014, after which she did not return home.

Two days later, he claimed, he had approached the Worli police and told them that Sheena had gone missing.

He told the police that when the police team reached Indrani’s residence, the latter told them that Sheena had relocated to the US and had not gone missing after which the police did not probe the case further.
