Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet the personalities he had nominated for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan last year. The Union Urban Development Ministry has sent invitations to these dignitaries to join the PM for a tea session at his official residence in New Delhi on September 10.
Deputy Advisor in Urban Development Ministry Rohit Kakkar told The Indian Express that invitations have been sent to all the personalities including Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who had been nominated by the PM on three different occasions. Kakkar said the PM has invited these personalities to discuss the ideas to make the campaign more effective.
Cricketer-turned-politician Mohammad Kaif told The Indian Express that he has received an invitation to meet the PM. Kaif, who hails from Allahabad and had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Phulpur, cited his busy schedule for being unable to visit Varanasi so far. He, however, said he had taken part in a cleanliness drive in Noida two months ago.
