In part-2 of Congress manifesto, Rahul Gandhi promises ‘Right to Shelter’

The party’s manifesto seeks to address the issue of recent communal tension in the state by committing itself to “securing religious harmony” in the state. Pradesh Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the if elected, the Congress will ensure that members to the Waqf Board are elected and not nominated so that the Muslim population of Delhi can choose its own representatives like in the case of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committees.”

The document seeks to make Delhi roads signal-free, beggar-free and disabled-friendly with promises of double-decker flyovers, multi modal public road transport system and skill development projects for beggars.

For tackling inflation, the document states that the government will run vegetable shops in each constituency modelled on the lines of government ration stores. The party promises faster metro trains halting at select metro stations with maximum footfall.

Campaign Committee chief Ajay Maken said that planned space will be provided for over four lakh informal shops and the vendors will be provided with licenses so that they “do not have to pay the police or the corporations for their livelihood.”

The manifesto promises that retirement age for government employees will remain at 60 years and an ex-gratia relief of Rs one crore will be provided to any police official dying in the line of duty. It also promises more night shelters and more auto and taxi stands.
