The Crime Branch on Friday arrested four persons — including two constables of the Delhi and Haryana Police, putting the cap on a case of kidnapping and robbery. They have been identified as Constables Raj Bahadur, and Surender Kumar Verma, Sanjay alias Dharamveer and Vasudev Prasad. Three others are yet to be arrested, police said.
According to police, a case had been registered at the Kamla Market police station based on the complaint of a cargo carrier company official who claimed he was kidnapped on April 22 by 4-5 people in police uniform. He said he was carrying a parcel containing mobile phones and Rs 50 lakh, to Paharganj. He claimed that he was taken to an area near Surajkund and dumped there, while his abductors fled with the parcel.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) R S Yadav said police recovered more than Rs 12 lakh in cash, and goods worth Rs 1.5 lakh bought with the stolen money. “Surender is a constable with the Haryana Police and is posted at Faridabad, while Raj is a driver with the Delhi PCR. Their common friends informed them about the courier.”
