Guru Harkrishan Educational Society on Sunday held its 20th Sanman Samaroh at the auditorium of Vivek High School,Sector 38-B,Chandigarh,and honoured 45 students who topped in the faculties of engineering,medicine and other professional courses from various universities and institutions.
Prof S S Gill,Vice-Chancellor,Baba Farid University of Health Sciences,Faridkot,who was the chief guest,and Narinderjit Singh,State Information Commissioner,Punjab,who was the guest of honour,conferred the awards on the toppers.
The awards comprised cash prizes ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 2,100 each besides a roll of honour certificate.
S. Mehar Singh Rawel Punjabi Patarkar Award 2012,comprising a sum of Rs 15,000 with citation,was also conferred on Amarjit Singh,Editor AKS Delhi,for his prolonged work as a Punjabi journalist. This award has been set up by the S. Mehar Singh Rawel Memorial Charitable Society,Chandigarh.
