The local police have arrested a watchman at the school on the basis of information provided by the elder sister of the victim.

A three-year-old pre-nursery student was allegedly sexually assaulted at her school in Indiranagar in East Bengaluru on Monday. Police said that the child was the daughter of a couple hailing from a north-eastern state, who work in a private firm in Bengaluru.

The local police have arrested a watchman at the school on the basis of information provided by the elder sister of the victim. Deputy commissioner of police (east division) N Sathish Kumar confirmed that the watchman of the school had been detained for allegedly sexually assaulting the school girl. The DCP said that the watchman had given a chocolate to the child on Monday and the child’s sister had noticed the victim sitting on the watchman’s lap.

The police said that the incident occurred around 12.30 pm at the school and came to light when she returned home and complained to her mother about being hurt. The victim reportedly told her mother that an uncle at school had hurt her. The child was taken to hospital where a doctor confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted. The parents approached the Indiranagar police and complained about the incident. The police have taken up the case under the provisions of the POCSO Act. “Our investigations have revealed that the watchman of the school as the accused person.
