The pass percentage in the Saurashtra-Kutch region remained almost on par with the overall state result. The average pass rate in the region stood at 76.44 per cent,.6 per cent less than the state average.
A small centre of Jamkandorna in Rajkot district added to the joy by recording the highest pass percentage of 99.5 among the examination centres.
Of the 221 students who achieved A1 grade across the state,52 belonged to Saurashtra-Kutch.
In grade wise performance,Rajkot city topped the region with 33 students grabbing the top grade. Interestingly,of these 33,31 students are of Gujarati Medium from G K Dholakia School.
Among districts,Surendranagar recorded the highest pass percentage of 82.62 in the region. But only three students from that district passed with A1 grade. Junagadh came second with 80.12 per cent pass rate and three students getting the top grade.
With a pass rate of 78.95 per cent,Rajkot district remained third.
The district not only saw the maximum number of students (33) passing with A1 grade,but also the highest number of students (5,618) who need improvement.
Kutch district recorded an overall pass percentage of 78.28 with five students bagging A1 grade.
Bhavnagar district recorded a pass rate of 77.56 per cent and four students with A1 grade. In Amreli and Jamnagar districts,pass rate stood at 73.26 and 72.21 per cent,respectively. Three students in Jamnagar and one from Amreli passed with A1 grader.
The performance of Porbandar district was the poorest in the region,both in terms of percentage and grade. The district recorded 68.47 pass percentage and not a single student from this district achieved A1 grade. The number of students requiring improvement also stood high at 941.
Surat recorded a better pass rate than the state average as 80.13 per cent students cleared the exam this year.
The pass percentage was,however,5 per cent less than the last years results.
Of the 33,196 registered students,33,014 appeared in the exams at 19 centres here.
The district saw 23 students passing out with A 1 grade,followed by 1,153 students with A 2 grade,4,523 with B 1 grade,7,991 with B 2 grade,8,397 with C 1 grade,3,447 with C 2 grade,and 920 with D grade.
With a pass rate of 87.72 per cent,English medium students outshone Gujarati medium students (76.58 per cent).
District Education Officer D N Patel said: As the new grading system has been introduced,we have strictly warned the schools not to stick the list of top 10 students on their notice boards. This year,girls have done better than the boys.
