A 19-year-old was caught by the officials at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad for allegedly trespassing late on Thursday night. He reportedly jumped the boundary wall leading to the international terminal of the airport.
Airport officials said that the youth identified as Ajmal Desai was caught immediately. Officials said that the incident was reported at around 8:30 pm in the evening and after interrogating him for one-and-a-half hour he was handed over to local Sardarnagar police station.
Airport Director RK Singh while confirming the incident said that the youth hails from Mansa taluka of Gandhinagar district. Singh said that “Desai seemed mentally challenged.”
Officials said that Desai jumped the boundary wall from opposite the terminal-4 building. From this route mostly staffs of the airport travel. According to Sardarnagar police station Desai’s father was called who said that his son was mentally unstable.
However, the incident of intrusion had sent the officials including central industrial security force (CISF) into a tizzy. However, it didn’t disrupt the airport operation as the security officials caught the youth soon after he jumped off the boundary wall.
Incidentally, on Thursday night a stray buffalo was hit by a SpiceJet aircraft at Surat airport, raising security concerns. The Boeing aircraft was carrying 170 passengers when it hit the buffalo.
