Bangladesh fought back strongly in the second session, taking three wickets for 90 runs. Ireland, who started at 94/1, lost their key batters, Paul Stirling (60), and Cade Carmichael (59) was removed after a review, while Harry Tector fell for 1. Spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the best bowler of the second session with two wickets. Despite the setbacks, Curtis Campher and Lorcan Tucker survived the session to guide Ireland to the Tea break at 184/4.

That wicket on the final ball of the day proves how well Bangladesh have bowled today. Nonetheless, an evenly posied Day 1. Ireland dominated the opening session, reaching 94/1 at Lunch on Day 1 after winning the toss and electing to bat. Though Bangladesh struck early, dismissing captain Andy Balbirnie for a duck, they were let down by dropping three catches. Paul Stirling and debutant Cade Carmichael rebuilt the innings with a strong partnership, taking advantage of a good batting pitch and loose bowling to put Ireland in a strong position.

... DAY 1, SESSION 3 ...

Bangladesh have been really poor on the field. They have dropped as many as four catches today. The bowlers have grinded hard but the fielding department has let them down. The session was a replica of the first one. Bangladesh scalped the wicket of Paul Stirling and Harry Tector in consecutive overs at the start of this session. Later, Najmul Hossain Shanto turned to the spin trio, Hasan Murad, Taijul Islam, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz for more wickets, but the pair of Lorcan Tucker and Curtis Campher showed a lot of character to end the session on a high. A good recovery from Ireland after losing three wickets in the session, but a much more productive session for the hosts. They have scalped three wickets including the big wicket of the set-batter Cade Carmichael however, Bangladesh had a chance to get rid of Lorcan Tucker as well but Najmul Hossain Shanto dropped him on 11 at first slip.

Bangladesh started well with Hasan Mahmud dismissing Andy Balbirnie in the very first over but Paul Stirling and Cade Carmichael drew a lot of pressure before shifting gears swiftly and scoring runs. Bangladesh tried spinners from both ends but he didn't yield any dividends. Mehidy Hasan Miraz was introduced for the final over and we feel he can have a big say in this match. A cautious effort by Ireland and they have begun the first Test match really well. 94 runs scored in the session, with the majority coming from Paul Stirling's blade. Bangladesh’s fielding slump is a recurring issue.
