Xiaomi's Redmi 2 Prime is the first smartphone to be assembled at its Sri City facility in Andhra Pradesh. The Prime version is Redmi 2 with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM.
Xiaomi has done away with flash sales for its Redmi 2 prime. The device is available on mi.com, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon.in at a price of Rs 6,999.
Xiaomi Redmi Prime 2 will be available in White and Grey colour options.
With Quick Charge technology, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime offers 16GB onboard Flash and up to 32GB microSD expansion. Redmi 2 also supports USB On-The-Go (OTG), allowing you to connect a flash drive as well as peripherals such as a keyboard or even a gamepad.
The Redmi 2 Prime comes with an 8MP BSI f/2.2 rear camera with 28mm wide-angle 5-element lens.
It also offers a 2MP BSI front camera with support for 720p video recording. A feature called 'Beautify' applies 36 smart filters based on gender and age which smoothen the skin and add an all-natural glow for selfies. Also, Selfie timer displays a 3-sec counter on the screen by the front camera sensor.
Xiaomi offers HDR along with manual exposure control with Redmi 2 Prime's 8MP f/2.2 rear camera.
The Redmi 2 Prime is powered by a 2,200 mAh battery which can removed. Under the hood, the device houses two micro SIM card slots (4G+4G or 3G+3G) and a microSD card slot with up to 32GB support.
The Redmi 2 Prime smartphone sports a 4.7-inch 720p HD IPS fully laminated display. along with AGC Dragontrail glass protection. Running Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system sugarcoated with MIUI 6 The smartphone runs on a 64-bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU based on Cortex A53 with Adreno 306 GPU.
The soft matte rear cover guards against smudges and fingerprints.
