WhatsApp has finally enabled its Dark Mode for both iOS and Android users. The company states, that this feature is designed to reduce eye strain in low light environments. Here are a few answers to questions that you may have about the new Dark Mode.
How to enable Dark Mode on Android smartphones? First of all, you need you to update the WhatsApp app to its latest version from the Google Play Store. After the update is installed, you can head to the Phone Settings and enable the device's Dark Mode. If that doesn't change the WhatsApp theme, you can open WhatsApp and head over to WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Theme. There you will be offered options between System, Light and Dark. Select Dark and you are done.
How to enable Dark Mode on iPhones? Dark Mode will be made available on iPhones running iOS 13 or above. To enable it, you need to update the app from the App Store first. Which devices support the new WhatsApp Dark Mode? WhatsApp only supports devices running iOS 13 or above. The supported devices include iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. How to shift back to the Light theme? For iOS users, you will be required to shift back to not using the Dark Mode on the phone, as it is a system-wide toggle. To do this you will be required to go to the Phone Settings, scroll down and find the Display & Brightness option, where you will need to toggle the switch back from Dark to Light. On Android, you can open WhatsApp and head to WhatsApp Settings > Chats > Theme and in there select the Light theme.
