Huawei is the latest company to release a new flagship. Its Mate 10 is the company’s first high-end smartphone that comes with its own artificial intelligence (AI)-based chipset enough to dethrone its counterparts in the smartphone business including Apple and Samsung. The premium phone will go head to head with the iPhone X, Galaxy Note 8, and Mi Mix 2. Mate 10 was first launched alongside the Mate 10 Pro at Munich earlier this month.
Mate 10 is a big-screen device, and it’s no different from the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8+. It’s made from premium materials, and offers a large display on the front. However, unlike the Mate 10 Pro, the Mate 10 isn’t IP67 water and dust resistant.
Mate 10 is surrounded by a 5.9-inch FullView LCD display (16:9 aspect ratio) and has slim bezels surrounding the front. The fingerprint scanner can be found on the front, which isn't on the Mate 10 Pro.
The premium phone comes with Leica-branded dual cameras on the rear, just like the Mate 19. There’s a 12MP colour sensor, paired with a 20MP monochrome sensor. Additionally, you’ll find an 8MP front-facing shooter with an f/2.0 aperture.
Mate 10 is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 970 processor, the dedicated AI chipset inside the device, Further, the phone has 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The internal memory can be expanded further up to 256GB via a microSD card slot.
Mate 10 also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack, unlike the Mate 10 Pro. The phone is backed by a 4000mAh battery.
Mate 10 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo, which is based on the company’s custom EMUI 8.0. The phone also supports a USB Type-C port.
Mate 10 will be available from late October 2017 and will cost 699 Euros (or approx Rs 52,801).Though it remains to be see if Huawei brings the Mate 10 to the Indian market.
