Every year, we keep a lookout for the best and worst red carpet moments around the globe and this year is no different. From the US Met Gala to the Star Guild Awards in India, we witnessed some awe-inspiring red carpet looks as well as those that left us wishing we had looked the other way. It was difficult for us to narrow down which star had the most distinctive and memorable look, but we did pick up the top 25 moments that cover both ends of the spectrum, see if you agree.

Rihanna earned top marks from fashion critics this year when she made an appearance in Guo Pei at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala 2015 celebrating the opening of "China: Through the Looking Glass" in Manhattan, New York, United States. Although Riri looked regal in the gown, Twitteratis found the look amusing and were fast to come up with hilarious memes. (Photo: Reuters)

When it comes to fashion, Katrina Kaif likes to keep it simple. It was no different for the lady when she made an appearance at Cannes 2015 in a lacy Elie Saab number. Although she managed to pull off the look because of her gorgeous features, we wished she had picked up something more suited for the ocassion. (Photo: Reuters)

Emma Stone set the bar very high in January when she ditched those feminine gowns and chose to go with a playful yet gorgeous embellished Lanvin jumpsuit at the Golden Globe Awards. The look was unexpected, yet insanely chic and we love how she chose the minimal make-up route instead of a red pout and heavily accentuated eyes. (Photo: AP)

Gigi Hadid was on a roll in 2015 and the blonde beauty went a step ahead when she wore a stunning white Tom Ford gown featuring a gaping cut-out at the front and thigh-high split at AmfAR Gala 2015. Gigi sure does looks at ease. (Source: Reuters)

Priyanka Chopra was spotted in an Alexis Mabille gown at the Star Guild Awards. We give the actor full credit for managing to pull off the velvety look, not many can do that. And those soft curls and berry lips did her absolute justice. Good work girl! (Photo: Varinder Chawla)

People were in for a shock when they saw Queen Bey in a sequined Givenchy Couture dress attending the China: Through the Looking Glass Costume Institute Benefit Gala at Metropolitan Museum of Art. The look received mixed reviews and it goes without saying that even though Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian had their moments of naked ambition at the red carpet, Beyonce took it to the next level, putting her assets on full display. Kim Kardashian loves flaunting her curves and she did exactly that when she made a striking appearance at the Met Gala in New York. Dressed to perfection in a Roberto Cavalli sheer gown, the mother of two looked gorgeous. (Photo: AP)

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked exquisite in a rich oxblood colour strapless Oscar de la Renta gown at Cannes 2015. Even though the former Miss World's known for her various faux pas on the red carpet, this year the lady stunned all. (Photo: Reuters)

Fan Bingbing's always been known to make dramatic red carpet appearances and this year the actor stunned all in a Marchesa gown at the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival. The gown was gorgeous and the make-up perfect. No complains here. (Photo: AP)

It's no surprise that Miley Cyrus loves shocking people and she did just that when she picked up a Atelier Versace creation for her MTV Video Music Awards. The look was kind of tiring as we sensed that Miley was trying a little too hard. Moreover, the outfit looks like something you can create out of items in your scrap drawer. (Photo: AP)

You know that if an outfit gets turned into a meme, it is going to be a strong contender for the worst-dressed and so was Sonam Kapoor's feathered Ellie Saab gown. The actor was the butt of all jokes on the social media and honestly, it did not impress us much too. Maybe, a little less feathers would have been awesome. (Photo: Twitter)

We usuallly love Sarah Jessica Parker's style quotient but she really disappointed us when she turned up at the Met Gala dressed up as a weirdo. The outfit did not do any justice to her figure and that Philip Tracey hat did not work at all. Talk about trying too hard! (Photo: Reuters)

Even though Taylor Swift was much appreciated for her appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, we just couldn't find a favourite in this look. The gold, silver and bronze houndstooth crop top and matching trousers by Ashish was too tacky for our liking. The only thing we loved are those metallic Christian Louboutin heels. (Photo: Reuters)

Deepika Padukone was spotted in white Stella McCartney separates at the Stardust Awards, earrings from Valliyan and a pair of Louboutins. Honestly, we are not a big fan of this look. (Photo: Varinder Chawla)

One of the most daring red carpet appearances at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards was that of Kate Hudson. The actor bared her toned figure in a body-hugging Atelier Versace gown and accessorised it with cut-out diamonds worth $ 2.2 million. We were impressed. (Photo: AP)

At the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards in January, 50 Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson shimmered in a sparkling thigh-high split Chanel Haute Couture sequined dress. She looked pretty. (Photo: AP)

Black seems to be the colour for Alia Bhatt this season. Spotted in a black off-shoulder gown with contrasting yellow printed panels by NY based Indian designer-duo Sachin and Babi from the Resort 2016 collection, Alia looked uber chic. We love how she finished out her look with a sleek hairdo and smokey eyes. (Photo: Varinder Chawla)

The Royal World Premiere of Spectre in London was packed with celebs in stunning designer gowns, but when Kate Middleton stepped out in a blue Jenny Packham dress no one could stop talking about it. The royal looked elegant in this powder blue gown. (Photo: Pinterest)

Lupita Nyong'o this year at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards looked gorgeous in a heavily embellished Calvin Klein gown with a a pearl-embellished bodice. We love how Lupita kept her look simple with minimal make-up and jewellery. (Photo: AP)

Mallika Sherawat's look was a damp squib at Cannes 2015. Period. (Photo: Reuters)

When we talk about Lady Gaga, the only thing that comes to mind is her bizzare sense of style. But this year at the Met Gala in New York, the singer surprised us in a custom Balenciaga by Alexander Wang as she posed with the designer. We are in love with her dress but she could have easily ditched that crown. (Photo: AP)

JLo pulled off a stunning red carpet cameo at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards in a Charbel Zoe gown. (Photo: Pinterest)

It was a Sharnita Nandwana dress and Nirav Modi jewellery for Nimrat Kaur for an award show. It's not the first time we have seen the actor donning a gold and beige gown but what worked for us is that minimal make-up. We think Ms Kaur kind of killed it (in a good way), no? (Photo: Varinder Chawla)

Sonakshi Sinha has a gorgeous face and we actually love how stunning she looks neck-up but other than that, there's nothing that we like about this look. The Shantanu and Nikhil jacket and lehenga did not do justice to her curves and tall frame. She should have picked up something else for a red carpet appearance. (Photo: Varinder Chawla)
