As most parts of India celebrated Diwali on November 4, Bengal worshipped its beloved Goddess Kali on Thursday. In pic, Naihati's tallest Kali idol being taken for immersion in the Ganges on Sunday, three days after Kali Puja.

Naihati’s idol is one of the largest in West Bengal, with a height of 21 feet.

The idol is known to the devotees as 'Baro Maa'.

Thousands of devotees came to Naihati during the immersion of the idol.

This immersion was cancelled last year in the wake of the Covid pandemic. However, It has been allowed this year.

As the idol is carried on a vehicle followed by a procession, local people gather on balconies and terraces of their homes to get a glimpse of the goddess.

Even as Covid-19 pandemic is not over yet, the Kali Idol immersion procession saw a sea of people thronging roads to bid adieu to the goddess.
