Vadodara students fail to make the cut

No student from Vadodara made it to the state merit list. The district also recorded the lowest pass percentage at 75.77. In central Gujarat,the tribal districts of Dahod and Panchmahals performed better.

No student from Vadodara made it to the state merit list. The district also recorded the lowest pass percentage at 75.77. In central Gujarat,the tribal districts of Dahod and Panchmahals performed better.

A Vadodara district education official said this is the first time that the district does not have any student in the merit list. “We used to have at least two students from the district in the state toppers’ list every year,” said the official.

Vadodara DEO S P Chaudhary said,“The rural areas have performed better this year. We hope to improve the performance next year.”

Some of the talukas with high pass percentage include Savli (88.89),Chhota Udepur (80.63),Dabhoi (82.91),Sinor (86.01),Karjan (87.35) and Pavi Jetpur (83.43).

Kheda,for the second consecutive year,outshone all other districts with a result of 95.84 per cent. Kheda DEO P F Pargi said: “The pass percentage has dropped a little compared to the last year,when it was 96.14 per cent. We used to have monthly evaluations and meetings with principals and authorities. Every school was given regular assignments,which helped the students prepare better for the exams.”

Kheda was followed by two other tribal districts Dahod (94.44 per cent) and Panchmahals (92.90 per cent).
