Task Force for IT sector to be soon set up: Omar

J-K CM announced setting up of a task force for holistic and comprehensive development of the IT sector in the state.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today announced setting up of a task force for holistic and comprehensive development of the Information Technology sector in the state.

The Force to be constituted on the analogy of health sector task force will be headed by the Minister for Information Technology Aga Ruhullah Mehdi and represented by the members from the state government,local players in IT sector and experts from outside the state,Omar said.

The Chief Minister said the Task Force,to be constituted within a weeks time,would study in detail various aspects of promotion of this sector,identify areas which require assistance from the government in a fixed time line keeping in view the potential of IT sector.

We want an organised and planned development of IT sector and the Task Force would prove highly beneficial for the same, he said at a joint meeting of state government officers and members of Information Communication Technology Association (ICTA) here.

The Chief Minister also directed for working out a concrete proposal for digitalisation of records in the four key departments of Home,Power,Roads and Buildings and Planning.

Other departments like PHE,Health,Finance,would be brought under the ambit of digitalisation gradually and this will move on, he said.

Underlining the importance of IT sector in the state,Omar said its development would open venues of investment in this sector both for local and outside industrialists.

It would also enhance the job opportunities for local talent and provide them expanded arena to venture and grow, he added.

Omar assured full government support to the people associated with Information and Communication Technology industry for its growth and development.
