Revival work on 2 Srinagar dams to begin soon: JK govt

The J-K govt has said work on revival of two dams in Budgam district would commence soon with the technical clearance.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has said work on revival of two dams in Budgam district would commence soon with the technical clearance committee giving its nod to the two projects,totalling Rs 78 crore.

“The technical clearance committee has cleared revival of Arzan-Garzan and Malpora dams at a cost of Rs 28 crore and Rs 50 crore respectively,” State Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather said during a visit to the Chrar-e-Sharief area yesterday.

He said revival of Khanchi irrigation canal has also been approved at a cost of Rs 9.50 crore.

“On completion,these projects would bring a big green revolution in Chrar-e-Sharif constituency and adjacent areas.” The minister also announced that Chrar-e-Sharief¿Yousmarg road is being upgraded at a cost of Rs 23 crore which will give a big boost to tourism activities in the area.

All possibilities would be explored to construct a ropeway from Nilnag to Bargah through Yousmarg to make maximum use of tourism potential of the area,he added.
