No accused named so far for the 2006 killing
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a fresh FIR in the Tulsiram Prajapati encounter case in in Mumbai on Friday.
The FIR states that following the Supreme Court order of April 8 on Tulsirams mother Narmadabai Prajapatis petition alleging that her son was killed in fake encounter by Gujarat Police,the CBI has filed an FIR against police officers of Gujarat,Rajasthan and others. The SC had asked the CBI to take over the probe in the case from Gujarat CID (crime).
In a release,CBI DIG P Kandswamy said the FIR has been filed for their alleged involvement in wrongful confinement,abduction and murder of Tulsiram Prajapati and the whole conspiracy. The FIR doesnt name any accused.
The release added that the investigation would be carried out by the SIT,which earlier investigated the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case.
Narmada Bai had alleged that her son was killed in a fake encounter by the Gujarat Police since he was a key witness in the November 2005 abduction and killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kausar Bi.
Prajapati,a close aide of Sohrabuddin,an alleged gangster,was killed in an encounter near Chapri village in Banaskantha district on December 28,2006.
The State CID (Crime) had earlier probed the Tulsiram encounter case and chargesheeted IPS officer Vipul Aggarwal,Inspector Ashish Pandya and four other policemen who were a part of the Special Operation Group (SOG) in Banaskantha.
In a supplementary chargesheet,it had also mentioned the names of Gujarat Police officers
D G Vanzara,Rajkumar Pandian and Dinesh MN of the Rajasthan Police,all accused in the Sohrabuddin encounter case.
