Pakistan troops continue ceasefire violation,target Indian posts in Mendhar

Pakistani troops fired along the Line of Control,drawing retaliation from India.

Pakistani troops fired on forward Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar and Hamirpur areas of Poonch district late on Friday night in yet another instance of ceasefire violation,drawing retaliation from India.

There was no immediate report of casualties on Indian side.

Defence spokesman S N Acharya said the Pakistani troops targeted the Indian forward areas with small arms fire at around 9.45 pm and Indian troops responded to it.

This came after the Pakistani troops,for the first time in 14 years since the 1999 Kargil war,violated ceasefire in the higher reaches of Ladakh with its troops opening fire with small and automatic weapons on Indian posts in Drass and Kaksar areas of Kargil sector.

According to sources,Pakistani troops fired with automatic weapons at Sando Post in Drass area in the second violation in the Kargil sector on Thursday night which was retaliated by the Indian troops.
