After two incidents of papers mysteriously disappearing from the Centre and the state government offices, some more pages pertaining to the controversial Adarsh Housing Society have gone missing from the city-based state headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Major General S S Jog,who is deposing before the commission of inquiry set up to probe the scam, informed it about the missing notings on Tuesday.
The MoDs counsel Shiren Shah told the commission that a noting on the communication between Jog and the then GOC of Army Headquarters (Maharashtra,Gujarat and Goa),A R Kumar, was missing from the files. The noting seems important as Jog,in that correspondence with Kumar, had objected to the latters move of issuing a no-objection certificate to the Mumbai Collector for the construction of the Adarsh Society, said Shah. Jog claimed he followed Kumars instruction as he was his senior.
We believe the notings made in March-April 2000 have gone missing as only a few pages,in which objections were raised, seem to have been removed. It cant be a case of misplacement, added Shah.
Earlier, files on Adarsh society had gone missing from the state Urban Development Department (UDD) and the New Delhi office of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF).
The missing files contained the societys proposal forwarded by the state government, seeking MoEF nod for construction. The ministry had replied that since the plot fell within CRZ,permission was required from the MCZMA.
Last year, four pages pertaining to the deletion of a nearby road from civic plans for giving more FSI to the society and CRZ clearances were found missing from the UDD office.
