The parents of the Sardar Dastur Boys School who have been alleging that their children have been failed unfairly by the school are planning to file a writ petition in the Bombay High Court demanding the school be de-recognised.
As many as 54 children from Class IX have been failed by the school.
Prasad Palkar,a parent, said,The school says the children who failed have not performed well. However, there are many problems in the school. Many teachers come only for a few days in the week and hardly complete the syllabus. So the childrens education suffers. If 54 students from the school are failing from a batch of 140,there has to be some problem with the way the school is teaching the children, he said.
Imtiyaz Peer Zade, another parent, said,We are not satisfied with the way the school has dealt with the students. The school should own up the fact that the students have not been taught in a consistent manner through the year. We will move the High Court in this regard. The principal also called the police today to keep us out of the school.
However, principal Lily Patel rubbished the parents’ allegations. We have been taking good care of all our children. However, there are a few children who could not cope up with the pressure of a few subjects, such as maths. To these children, from the very first test we have been saying they need to work harder. However, the parents and children did not listen to us then. The papers have been rechecked as well,by people from the Zila Parishad as well as a representative from the parents’ side. And none of them found anything unfair in the valuation. Whatever we do,we do for the betterment of the children.
On the police presence on campus,Patel said,Many parents came and protested inside my office recently. Frankly,I was afraid and thus asked the police to come to the school.
