Panjab University records a rise in QS Sustainability Rankings

Panjab University (PU) has registered a significant rise in this year’s global QS Sustainability Rankings. In the 2026 edition of the QS World University Sustainability Rankings, PU secured 569th position worldwide, marking a strong leap from its 710th rank in 2025.

This leap also corresponds with improved ranks in Asia — rising from 189 to 144 — and India — from 21st to 16th place.

Noting that the university has improved in all parameters across both national and international rankings, PU Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Prof. Renu Vig underscored that the varsity achieved 3rd place among state public universities (up from 5th in 2024). In the NIRF Pharmacy category, it advanced from 7th to 3rd, and re-entered the engineering list at 93rd this year. Globally, PU moved from the 1001–1200 band to the 901–950 band in the QS World University Rankings 2026. The university has maintained its position at the 601–800 band in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2026 edition.
