A 23-year-old man was arrested for impersonating as a Delhi Police constable attached with the security wing of the Prime Minister and using a forged security pass. Vikas,a resident of Sonepat in Haryana, was apprehended on the Singhu border checkpost in Outer Delhi on Sunday evening after he approached the police asking them to allow his cousin carry passengers illegally into Haryana.
He introduced himself as a constable and produced an identity card of Delhi Police (PM security). The card was found forged, DCP (Outer) Chhaya Sharma said. Vikas told the police he worked as a labourer with a contractor who maintained parks wherever the Prime Minister was scheduled to visit. Temporary passes were issued by the PM security through the contractor to work at the site, the police said.
Vikas did not return his pass and used it in buses and parking lots to save expenses, Sharma said. The accused is the son of a Class-IV IAF employee, police added.
