As the fallout of a property dispute,a resident of Sector 25 in Panchkula was allegedly confined and beaten up by around six men on Tuesday. Bhupinder Kumar,a cloth shop owner, told the police that the six men also forced him to sign some blank documents at gunpoint.
Around 9.30 am,while on way to my shop in Manimajra,I got a call from a property dealer known as Atri. I have a disputed plot of two kanals in the Industrial Area, regarding which a case is going on in the court. Atri said a party from Karnal is interested in the plot and has come to the city to purchase it. I told him that I was not interested, but he requested me to come to a house in Sector 21 where the interested party was waiting, Kumar said.
I found Atri and another person in the house. Within minutes, around four unknown youths, carrying baseball bats, entered and started beating me up. They made me sign some blank documents at gunpoint and to prevent me from running away from the place, hit me on my leg. They then asked me to call up my father and tell him to withdraw the case going on in the lower and district court.
Later, they locked me up in a room and went to another to consume liquor. Somehow I managed to escape late in the evening, took a lift from a passerby and reached my house, Kumar added. He is admitted in the General Hospital in Sector 6.
The police reached the spot and started investigations into the matter. We are investigating and the statement of the victim is being taken, said SHO,Sector 5,Inspector Baljit Singh. No case had been registered till the filing of the report.
