Justice,peace will prevail when needs are fulfilled,says SC judge

Justice Cyriac Joseph of the Supreme Court on Sunday equated justice to peace and said both will prevail only when needs and not greed is fulfilled.

Justice Cyriac Joseph of the Supreme Court on Sunday equated justice to peace and said both will prevail only when needs and not greed is fulfilled. “When everyone gets what he needs and no one gets more than he deserves,then there is justice,” he said at the valedictory function of the 2nd Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) International Moot Court Competition. “And I extend this to international relations as well,” he added.

Jocelyn Bond and Sarah Knotson,law students from George Washington University of the US won the first prize in the moot and also a free admission to a five-week course at the World Trade Institute’s summer academy.

The judges of the moot included sitting member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) appellate body,Shotaro Oshima,and a 15-year veteran of the WTO’s Disputes Settlement body,Christian Haeberli.
