I am in no mood as of now to join politics: Pratibha Advani

Senior BJP leader L K Advani's daughter Pratibha said she is in no mood to join politics as of now but did not rule it out totally.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani’s daughter Pratibha says she is in no mood to join politics as of now but does not not rule it out totally.

“I have, unfortunately, not been able to devote much time for active politics myself but my involvement with my dad has been pretty complete. Later in life if I feel I want to give it my whole time or something, then I will,” she said in an interview.

The 42-year-old daughter of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate said she was satisfied with running her TV production company Swayam Infotainment. She is currently hosting a programme ‘Retake’ aired on a Hindi news channel on Saturdays and Sundays in which she interviews film celebrities.

When asked about her plans of joining politics,Pratibha said,”What will happen later I don’t know. But right now I am satisfied with my career. If I want to join, nobody is going to stop me… but not now. I have no mood as of now.

The ring-side view is better as I can watch how the others are doing.”

But she feels she is involved in politics even today.

“I am in politics in a way. I get to do a lot with my father.

I am closely associated with it in my own way and this is what my involvement is,” she said.

When asked about constant comparisons with the Gandhi family,Pratibha,a Zoology graduate, said the cases were different.

“In their case it is a taken-for-granted thing (that they will join politics). That this person will take forward the family tradition. In our case it is not so. Very few people are there in BJP who have carried this tradition from generation to generation,” she said.

She makes light of the comparisons between her and Priyanka Vadera, who campaigned for her mother Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul in the Lok Sabha polls.

“Everybody campaigns for his/her family. People tend to compare two high-profile people (Priyanka and her). I have no issues with it,” she said.

Pratibha said she was against young leaders encashing on their political legacy but added that if a person has the capability then he/she should not be prevented from entering politics.

“BJP has always been against this so-called political legacy. It is not wrong if sons or daughters of politicians enter politics but only because they are sons or daughters,I think that is wrong. I feel they have to have that capability themselves,” she said.
