In A major relief to nearly 150 students of Ahmedabad-based Kesar SAL Medical College, the Gujarat High Court on Thursday directed BJ Medical College and NHL Medical College to provide them necessary certificate after completion of their internship. The court also held that the order would apply to other students studying at Kesar SAL Medical College.

After derecognition of the college under the recommendation of Medical Council of India (MCI) in 2005,the students were accommodated in B J Medical College and NHL Medical College to complete their internship and graduation following a court order. However, after completing the internship and while applying for the postgraduation medical course, the authorities of the two colleges refused to give certificates to these students of internship as their college had been derecognised. Following this, the students moved the HC.

The HC Division Bench comprising Chief Justice S J Mukhopadhaya and Justice Akil Kureshi directed the two colleges to issue these students internship certificates mentioning that they belong to Kesar SAL Medical College and did internship at their college under HC’s order.
