Gurgaon schools get in writing: Don’t hike fees till govt decision

The District Education Officer (DEO) of Gurgaon,Jyoti Chaudhary,has directed all private schools in the district to retain the old fee structure till a final decision on fee hike was taken.

The DOE intervened in the matter after a group of parents apprised her of the “harassment they and their wards were being subjected to by the schools”.

In a letter to the schools,the DEO also directed them to not charge any late fee from those who have not deposited the increased fee so far.

The parents reportedly told the DEO that schools were discriminating between students on grounds of non-payment of the hiked fee.

“Private schools had earlier ignored the district authorities’s verbal directions issued in this regard. But now after a written order,we hope they adopt a positive attitude towards our demands,” Vashishth Goel,president,Millennium Parents Association,said.
