Freight rates showed a sharp rise of Rs 2,000 per 10 metric tonne load in the local truck transport market today,following a hike in fuel prices.
Transporters said the rise in diesel prices by Rs.3 per litre,last evening,mainly pushed up the freight rates.
In major metros like Delhi to Chennai,Kolkata and Mumbai,the prices moved up by Rs.2000 each to 51,000,Rs.26,000 and Rs.23,000.
Rates to Pondicherry and Pune also went up by Rs.2000 each to Rs.54,000 and Rs.25,000.
