Freight rates up due to diesel price hike

Freight rates showed a sharp rise of Rs 2,000 per 10 metric tonne load in the local truck transport market.

Freight rates showed a sharp rise of Rs 2,000 per 10 metric tonne load in the local truck transport market today,following a hike in fuel prices.

Transporters said the rise in diesel prices by Rs.3 per litre,last evening,mainly pushed up the freight rates.

In major metros like Delhi to Chennai,Kolkata and Mumbai,the prices moved up by Rs.2000 each to 51,000,Rs.26,000 and Rs.23,000.

Rates to Pondicherry and Pune also went up by Rs.2000 each to Rs.54,000 and Rs.25,000.

Following are today’s rates in Rs per load 10 tonnes: Ahmedabad 15,000 Hyderabad 38,000 Mumbai 23,000 Vijayawada 40,000 Baroda 17,000 Chennai 51,000

Pune 25,000 Bangalore 54,000 Surat 19,000 Mysore 56,000

Kanpur 14,000 Pondicherry 54,000 Kolkata 26,000 Coimbatore 57,000

Ludhiana 13,000 Kochi 61,000 Chandigarh 11,000 Thiruvananthapuram 67,000

Jaipur 11,000 Goa 39,000 Indore 15,000 Gwalior 10,000 Patna 24,000 Guwahati 41,000.
