A year after the hospital work had come to a standstill because of employees’ unrest over the setting up of regional cancer centre in private partnership, the Governing Body chairman of Christian Medical College and Hospital addressed the employees of the hospital for the first time to answer their queries regarding actions taken with regard to the complaints about the previous management.

Addressing the employees of the hospital at CMC Chapel here this afternoon,Dr Rajinder Giani announced that members of the previous management team had been given three months’ time to reply to the ‘irregularities’ found in the audit report prepared by the fact-finding committee.

“When I last stood here before you, there was a lot of tension and uncertainty in everyone’s mind. As I stand here before you today,I hope we have answered all your questions. The governing body is happy to see happiness on your faces,” he told the audience.

“This happiness is the result of your hard work only. The hospital, under the new leadership of Dr Abraham G Thomas, who is the director of the hospital, has increased its revenue in the past nine months,” he said on the occasion, announcing an increase of 10,7 and 5 per cent in the dearness allowance of the employees falling in the groups 3,2 and 1 respectively.

“It is for the first time that the hospital had hiked DA twice in a financial year, which is in addition to earlier increment of 15 per cent.” “As for the complaints we had received from you with regard to financial irregularities by the previous management,I want to tell you all that we have acted on the audit report prepared by the fact-finding committee. All those against whom complaints were registered have been asked to submit their replies within three months.”
