DCB busts spurious cement racket,four held

The Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch busted a spurious cement racket during a raid on an outlet in the Danilimbda area of the city on Thursday.

The Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) busted a spurious cement racket during a raid on an outlet in the Danilimbda area of the city on Thursday.

Four persons,identified as Yasin Chipa,Hariom,Kaniyalal and Salim Panwala were arrested from the spot. Six others,including main accused Haji Chipa,are absconding.

DCB officers said that Haji and his sons owned a cement trading company —Bharat Traders — at Danilimbda,and were the primary distributors of Ambuja White Cement.

They used to mix low quality cement in the bags of Ambuja cement,said Crime Branch ACP M G Chavda,adding that the accused sold around 10 such bags in the city markets everyday.

During the raid,the DCB recovered cement of the Parasmani Group,a Rajkot-based company,which was reportedly being mixed with Ambuja White Cement. The DCB seized 903 bags of cement worth Rs 18.60 lakh,and four trucks and tempos.
