CM gives nod for IT park in Mohali

The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority has got the chief minister’s nod for its fourth mega project in the city.

The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has got the chief minister’s nod for its fourth mega project in the city. A self-contained integrated information technology (IT) park will soon come up perpendicular to the Aerocity.

The GMADA will develop four sectors spread across almost 3,000 acres of land earmarked for science park,business park,research and development park in the master plan for industrial,commercial,residential and mixed use purposes. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal,who is also the GMADA chairman,gave a formal nod to the ambitious project at a meeting held in Chandigarh recently.

Confirming the development,GMADA chief administrator (CA) Vivek Partap Singh told Newsline that of the total four sectors planned under the IT park,one will be located between Aerocity and airport and the three others will be on the southern side of Aerocity. The park will comprise the land in contiguity with Rurka,Sainimajra,Chaumajra villages and Sector 101-A along N-choe. The 300-feet-wide road,along which it will come up,will link Kharar-Banur Road with the airport.

Under the preliminary plans,the IT park will house companies operating in business process outsourcing (BPO),knowledge process outsourcing (KPO),legal process outsourcing (LPO) and engineering process outsourcing (EPO). Besides,software companies,software testing companies,hardware manufacturing companies,multimedia,graphic,animation and gaming industries,e-advertising,e-marketing,e-publishing houses,consultancy firms and education training institutes will also come up.

Comprising residential and social infrastructure facilities of healthcare,recreation,health clubs,hotels and multiplexes,the park will provide efficient and reliable power,water,waste management and technology facilities to the prospective entrepreneurs.

“This project will be developed expeditiously to compete with several private players coming up with similar projects here,” said Singh,adding that huge investments have been made in the project.

The other ambitious project of the the GAMADA are the Aerocity,which has already been launched,and the residential urban estates in Mullanpur along the approved 200-feet-wide Mohali-Kharar bypass,which are coming up in Greater Mohali.
