City player wins State Open c’ship

City-based Sampada Sahasrabuddhe won the recently concluded Open State Badminton Championships in Mumbai. Sampada,tournament top seed,won 22-20,21-18 in the finals against Sonal More in women’s category.

City-based Sampada Sahasrabuddhe won the recently concluded Open State Badminton Championships in Mumbai. Sampada,tournament top seed,won 22-20,21-18 in the finals against Sonal More in women’s category.

“It was a great moment. I am now preparing for the forthcoming state selection tournaments for the National Championships taking place in Guwahati next year,” said Sahasrabuddhe.

She is coached by Varun Khanwalkar at the Dhume Hall in Sahakar Nagar.

“We are happy with Sampada’s achievements. We are thankful to Subhash Jagtap who has been extremely supportive throughout the training sessions,” said Khanwalkar. A total of 32 players from across the state had participated in the five-day tournament.
