100 robberies,car thefts solved with arrest of 6

The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested six persons and claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in more than 100 cases of robbery and vehicle thefts in the Capital.

The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested six persons and claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in more than 100 cases of robbery and vehicle thefts in the Capital.

Joginder,the gang kingpin allegedly involved in 80 cases,and his accomplices Sikander,Kapil,Ashok,Kishan and Munish Rawat were apprehended in the past week,Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Shibesh Singh said.

“The gang is involved in more than 100 criminal cases of dacoity,robbery,car-jacking and chain snatching in Delhi,” he said. Four sophisticated .32 bore pistols,17 live cartridges,Rs 2.35 lakh in cash,jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh,six mobiles phones worth Rs 80,000,a car and a motorcycle were also recovered from their possession.

The gang members were apprehended after the police received information that Joginder had hideouts in the city,besides Rajasthan and Punjab. After committing crimes,he used to flee either to Rajasthan or Punjab along with his gang,Singh said.

Investigators tracked their movement and Joginder and Ashok were traced to Churu district in Rajasthan. Kapil,who has seven cases against him,and Kishan were arrested later. Sikander,who has 28 cases against him,was nabbed on July 17 from the ISBT of Sector 17,Chandigarh. According to Singh,Joginder was evading arrest since last year.
