With the fourth phase of polling in the Lok Sabha elections approaching tomorrow, political parties continued attacking each other via memes and videos. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), newly energised by the release of its supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on interim bail, took note of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) “washing machine”, while the Congress pressed ahead with its demand for a caste census.
Electoral officers did not stay away from the meme-fest either. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Chandigarh posted a reel encouraging voters to exercise their franchise — with a Mothers’ Day twist!
Here’s what’s buzzing in social media today:
Chandigarh CEO lists out ’13 reasons why your mother is mad at you’
On the occasion of Mothers’ Day on Sunday, the Chandigarh CEO posted a video urging the electorate to go out and vote on June 1, the day of polling in the Union Territory. The video was accompanied with the message: “Encourage each mother to vote on June 01st! Wishing every mother a Very Happy Mother’s Day!”

The video listed out “13 reasons why your mother is mad at you” and contained entries like “You are 18 and you did not register as new voter”, “You did not check her name in electoral roll”, and “You did not motivate your friends to vote”.

AAP promises to ‘break BJP’s washing machine’
AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who announced the party’s 10 poll guarantees earlier on Sunday, featured in a poster shared by the party’s X handle.
The poster comes with the caption: “BJP WASHING MACHINE: Chaurahe par todenge, bhrashtachaar ko jad se khatam karenge (We will break the BJP Washing Machine in public, will finish corruption by its roots)”. It also says “Kejriwal ki guarantee”, referring to the poll promises he made earlier in the day.
Earlier, while announcing AAP’s poll guarantees, Kejriwal said, “The system where honest people are being sent to jail and the corrupt are being protected will end. It is the biggest reason behind the country’s corruption.” He added: “BJP’s washing machine will be dismantled. Like we had attacked corruption at both the lower and higher levels in Delhi and Punjab, we will replicate it across the country.”
Congress presses on with caste census demand
The Congress attacked the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi yet again over the demand for a caste-based census through a video.
In the video, a look-alike of Modi can be seen asking people to provide chairs according to how many people are present, to which a young man replies, “Wahi toh keh rahe hain, uncle, ginti toh karo (That’s what we are saying, uncle, do the count)”, in an apparent reference to the caste census. After this, a man says: “Hamari ginti hogi, tabhi toh humein hamara hissa milega (If our numbers are counted, only then can we get our share)”.

The video was accompanied with the caption: “Ginti se milegi hissedaari, haath badlega haalaat (Share will be obtained by counting, the hand will change the situation)”.
