The Congress party Monday released a list of 40 candidates for next month’s Assembly polls in Mizoram on a day former party chief Rahul Gandhi landed in the state capital Aizawl on a two-day visit to campaign for party candidates.
Mizoram Congress Committee chief Lalsawta was fielded from Aizawl West-III (ST), while Lalnunmawia Chuaungo has been nominated from Aizawl North-I (ST).
Lalrindika Ralte has been picked to contest from Hachhek (ST), while Lalhmingthanga Sailo was fielded from Dampa (ST) and Lalrinmawia from Aizawl North-II.

Polling for the Northeastern state’s 40-member House will be held on November 7 in a single phase, and votes will be counted on December 3.
Earlier in the day, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi led a padyatra and addressed a public gathering in Aizawl on Monday, on the first day of his visit to the election-bound state.
