Picking up a new constituency, his fourth one after Jubbal-Kotkhai, Rohru and Shimla (Rural), Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Friday urged party workers to unite to ensure for him a big victory from Arki, a former Congress stronghold that slipped to the BJP during the past two decades.
Flanked by his wife Pratibha Singh and son Vikramaditya Singh, Virbhadra on Friday told a gathering here that it was his own decision to contest from Arki since too many aspirants for the seat had resulted in Congress’s loss earlier. Vikramaditya said the infighting in the Congress had offered this seat to the BJP on a platter. One of the speakers at the gathering also sought support of sitting BJP MLA Govind Ram Sharma who has been denied the ticket this time.
