Tejashwi Yadav is the Bihar chief ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan, announced Congress leader Ashok Gehlot at the press conference held at Hotel Maurya on Thursday. VIP chief Mukesh Sahani is the Deputy Chief Minister face of the Mahagathbandhan. Other senior leaders put up a united front at the presser and spoke of bringing change in Bihar.
Speaking at the conference RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav said: “We have joined hands to work for the development of Bihar and not just to form the government. We thank Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and others for trusting Mahagathbandhan again. We will work together to kick out NDA’s double engine government, whose one engine is corruption and other engine is crime.”

“Injustice is being done with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. No press conferences or confirmation of CM face has been done yet by NDA. We have been saying for a long time that Nitish Kumar will not be made the next Chief Minister. This has been confirmed by none other than Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself,” Tejashwi Yadav said at the presser.
Congress leader Ashok Gehlot said, “It is obvious to get worried from the condition of the nation and the state. The way NDA government is working, it is a threat to the nation and fourth pillar of democracy. People are worried. If you condemn it, you will go to jail be it a journalist, celebrity, or anyone else. The entire nation is looking towards Bihar, people want change.”
Along with Tejashwi Yadav, Ashok Gehlot, Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru, CPI(M) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya and VIP chief Mukesh Sahani were in attendance while, Rahul Gandhi did not show up for the conference.
“When elections were held in 2020, and when the NDA thought they had no opposition, the people of Bihar made us a strong opposition. The state has been waiting for this election for a long time. This election is very important for all the youth who have been lathi-charged, and all the women who were promised jobs, said CPI(M) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya at the press conference. “We want to assure everyone that Bihar is ready, and our Mahagathbandhan of seven parties will bring change unitedly,” he added.
Before the Mahagathbandhan presser began, the BJP mocked Congress and RJD, pointing at “open infighting” among within the “grand alliance” after Tejashwi Yadav, and not Rahul Gandhi, featured on the poster of the media briefing. Boards and posters put up at the venue of Mahagathbandhan press conference featured photos of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

“There is now open infighting within the grand alliance. First, Rahul Gandhi did not consider Tejashwi as the (chief ministerial) face. Now, Tejashwi has made Rahul Gandhi vanish from the poster. This poster itself is the announcement of the grand alliance’s breakup,” the Bihar BJP posted on X.
