Campaigning for his party candidate Bhagwat Saran Gangwar in Pilibhit constituency, SP president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday took a dig at his BJP rival, Jitin Prasada, for being a party hopper and accused him of being involved in corruption.
“Don’t you know about him (Prasada)? He has been roaming around in multiple parties… And as soon as he became the PWD minister, he did a scam of thousands of crores and broke all the records of scams. Then his officer was removed,” he said. “He (Prasada) is being imposed (on Pilibhit by the BJP) because he is rich and can fight elections,” the SP chief added.
The BJP has fielded Prasada from Pilibhit after dropping sitting MP Varun Gandhi.
Later when mediapersons asked about the BJP denying ticket to Varun Gandhi, Akhilesh said, “His (Varun’s) ticket was cut because he kept talking about farmers and youths. The one who has got the ticket wants to make Pilibhit Mumbai.”
“A new candidate has come who says that had he known (that he would contest from the seat), he would have made this place Mumbai. I would like to tell him not to make it to Mumbai but do some work here that is done in Mumbai,” the SP chief said.
