An 18-year-old Texas Tech University student was arrested and expelled after she was caught on video making remarks during a campus vigil for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, according to a report by Fox News.

The student, identified as Camryn Giselle Booker, was seen in viral footage shouting at students near the university’s Student Union Building on Friday. The vigil was being held in Kirk’s memory after his assassination last week in Utah.

In the video, Booker can be heard yelling: “F–k y’all, your homie dead, he got shot in the head.” She also confronts students, including one man wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat, who filmed her and described her behaviour as “evil.” Booker responds by repeatedly accusing him of being hateful and later says she is being unfairly called “aggressive because I’m a Black woman.”

According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, Booker was arrested and charged with one count of assault, a Class C misdemeanor — the lowest-level criminal offense in Texas. She was transported to the county jail, booked, and later released on a $200 bond Saturday afternoon.

The Texas Tech Police Department confirmed the arrest in a statement, saying the incident occurred in the designated free speech area on campus. The university has since confirmed that Booker is no longer enrolled.

“Any behavior that denigrates victims of violence is reprehensible, has no place on our campus, and is not aligned with our values,” Texas Tech University said in a statement. Officials added that while federal law prevents them from commenting on individual student conduct matters, they “take all reported violations seriously.”

The footage of the confrontation quickly circulated online, sparking outrage. Texas Governor Greg Abbott also weighed in, posting a photo of Booker being arrested on X, captioned: “This is what happened to the person who was mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination at Texas Tech. FAFO.”

Booker’s representatives declined to comment when contacted by Fox News.

The assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University has sparked widespread outrage, sending shockwaves across political and student communities alike.

Authorities launched a massive 33-hour manhunt after Kirk was fatally shot on campus Wednesday. The search ended late Thursday night with the arrest of Tyler Robinson, who has been identified as the sole suspect in the killing.

Police confirmed Robinson’s capture came after relatives and a family friend alerted law enforcement that he had made self-incriminating remarks about the crime. Acting on the tip, officers tracked him down and took him into custody without incident.
