The attacks on minorities in Bangladesh continued on Saturday when a Hindu priest was attacked in Satkhira Sadar Upazila. The victim, Bhabasindhu Bor, priest of local Sree Radha Govinda temple in Brahmarajpur village was attacked by 7-8 men.
The priest was taken to the hospital and is said to be in a critical condition. The attackers have fled the crime scene.
The attack on Saturday is the second in the last 2 days. On Friday, another Hindu priest named Shymanondo Das was hacked to death by three unidentified machete-wielding assailants.
In the last couple of years, there has been an increase in deadly attacks on religious minorities and secular thinkers in the country, carried out by radical Islamists.
On Jun 7, a 65-year-old Hindu priest was killed by three bike-borne assailants while a Christian businessman was hacked to death on Jun 5 by unidentified machete-wielding men. In February, militants stabbed to death a Hindu priest at a temple in Bangladesh and shot and wounded a devotee who went to his aid. Similar attacks have carried out in the country within last few years.

The ISIS and al-Qaeda in Indian Peninsula have claimed responsibility for some of the attacks although the government has denied their presence in Bangladesh.
